International study is an important facet of Converse’s liberal arts education. Through the Office of International Studies, you may design your own curriculum, choosing from a variety of study/travel programs. Converse students have traveled to New Zealand, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, England, Costa Rica, Iceland, and many more locations!
Students have studied abroad at institutions around the world, including the Institute for American Universities in Avignon, the Aix-en-Provence in France, the University of Minnesota, the St. Louis University in Toledo and Madrid, respectively; the University of Salamanca, and John Cabot University in Italy. In the past, students have also worked with the Partnership in Service Learning in Mexico and France.
Whether you decide to join a 10-day Jan term trip or a full semester aborad, don’t let a language barrier deter you from this life-changing experience. Prior language training is not required. Most students enroll in institutes or universities in programs designed for foreign students. The credits you earn may apply toward graduation, and grades often count toward your Converse grade point average.
If you are interested in spending a semester or an academic year abroad, please tell us as early as possible. You will need to apply at least one academic year before you wish to travel. Your academic advisor will help ensure you stay on track for your degree, and the Director of Study Travel will help you choose the perfect destination and help facilitate the application process.
You should also explore your financial options early. There are a variety of financial resources for studying abroad available from Converse, as well as outside options.
